Content and framework conditions of the project work
The initiative was founded in: 1996
The initiative was founded because of the following reasons:

Study by the Women's Office in Linz together with the Women's Committee of the SPÖ party on the theme of the "Health of Women in Linz"; in 1992 the theme "Women and Health" was adopted by the Women's Office as a focal point.

Target group(s): Basically, all women, on the theme of "Health as a holistic concept"
Targets: We orientate our work around the concept of health defined by the WHO; pursue holistic health work by women for women; concentrate on women-specific living conditions and role expectations as the cause of illness.
Details of the work done by the initiative:

- Compilation of a program
- Organisation of seminars and courses
- Homeopathic and gynaecological care
- Informationen about hormones, menopause, advice and care, support in crises
- Library work
- Women's café
- Networking with Upper Austria and Austria
- Open Day and Fairs
- Psychotherapy free of charge for socially disadvantaged women
- Special information on osteoporosis.

Success that the initiative has achieved:

In 1999 more than 600 women attended seminare and workshops by the Linz Women's Health Centre, which meant an increase of 30% on the previous year.

Problems that the initiative has been faced during its work:

Limited space, small budget

Participation of the target group concerning the conception, planning and implementation of the initiative's work:

After every course the participants receive a questionnaires asking them to evaluate it.

Co-operation:

We have been cooperating since 1996 with the Women's Health Centres in Austria and the" Netzwerk Frauenforum"; this leads to networking, exchanges of ideas and mutual support.
