Content and framework conditions of the project work
The initiative was founded in: 1999
The initiative was founded because of the following reasons:

The idea for this initiative emerged while gathering suggestions in connection with other Round Tables on the theme of old-age; the topic of nutrition turned out to be of importance.

Target group(s): Older women in the Schwanheim district of Frankfurt am Main
Targets: A "shopping basket" is filled and delivered so as to demonstrate the availability of healthy and reasonably priced food. We cooperate with local foodstores.
Details of the work done by the initiative:

In preparation for the above project, cooperation meetings took place at the so-called "Health House" in Schwanheim with people from other institutions in the district. We advertised for the "shopping basket" through press-work in the local newspaper, discussed possible cooperation with retailers, and held discussions on alternative ideas, such as an organised lunch in the district and the like.

Areas of work of the initiative:
Health
Success that the initiative has achieved:

Things are still at the early stage. People working in other Schwanheim institutions have already shown interest.

Problems that the initiative has been faced during its work:

Time will tell if older women are really interested in the "shopping basket", or if there are enough of them to be able to carry out the project.

Participation of the target group concerning the conception, planning and implementation of the initiative's work:

Several older women took part in the cooperation meetings. There are plans for personal talks with the women at their homes and an article in the newspaper followed by a telephone survey.
