| Content and framework conditions of the project work |
| The initiative was founded
in: 1992 |
| The initiative was founded
because of the following reasons: The Berlin
Counselling Network of Women Experts (ExBeNe) is modelled on a similar foundation in
Hamburg. The idea for such networks originated from Hamburg professor Frau Prof. Angelika
C. Wagner, who was at the time vice-president of Hamburg University. |
| Target group(s): |
Dedicated, professionally highly qualified women with
many years of work experience, who are for the most part retired ("women
experts") |
| Targets: |
The Berlin Counselling Network of Women Experts (ExBeNe
Berlin) has set itself the goal of providing advice to all women seeking help on any
aspect of their professional, and consequently personal, development and to support them
in furthering their careers. |
| Details of the work done by
the initiative: The Berlin Counselling
Network of Women Experts (ExBeNe) offers support to both working and non-working women. At
the moment there are 24 Women Experts, highly qualified women with many years of
professional experience, who pass on their knowledge and experience to younger women on a
voluntary basis. Most of them are retired. Women seeking advice come to the ExBeNe's
office in the Berlin city government's Department of Employment, Social Services and
Women's Affairs. Here the expertise of the ExBeNe women can be efficiently co-ordinated
with professional advice on official sponsorship programs relevant to women, the job
market and education. After a preliminary interview, the woman seeking advice is passed on
to a Woman Expert whose knowledge and expertise, and personal qualities, can best help
her. |
