| Content and framework conditions of the project work |
| The initiative was founded
in: 1987 |
| The initiative was founded
because of the following reasons: The
association was founded to help combat everyday violence against women and young girls by
helping them to help themselves. The course for older women was created for similar
reasons. |
| Target group(s): |
All women 60 and older, independent of origin, skin
colour, religion and lifestyle - all women, whether loud or quiet, introvert or extrovert,
with or without impairments, athletic or otherwise. |
| Targets: |
- Rediscovering one's own strength and learning to
trust it,
-Discovering one's own limits and going right up to them,
-Rapidly learning self-defence techniques,
-Using personal possessions as weapons,
-Walking safely, maintaining a secure stance. |
| Details of the work done by
the initiative: Our self-assertion and
self-defence training includes
-Breathing and voice exercises,
-Bodily awareness exercises,
- Cultivating a confident appearance,
- In the safe confines of the course, we discuss our own fears and inhibition levels.
- We discuss situations in which course members have experienced actual violence,
- We conduct role-plays to learn to understand and control situations. |

| Success that the initiative
has achieved: Women rediscover their
strength; they have more room to breathe and their joie de vivre increases. |
| Problems that the
initiative has been faced during its work: We
have scarcely any financial support from public funds, and most of our work is carried out
by volunteers. |
| Participation of the target
group concerning the conception, planning and implementation of the initiative's work: Each participant can help decide the content of the course. |
| Co-operation: Since 1987 we have been exchanging experiences on a regional and
transregional level with other Wen Do trainers |
| Information: We are available for people interested in receiving more information on our
initiative by phone. |
