because of the following reasons: All the important posts on the region are occupied by men. |

| Target group(s): | Unemployed women between 45 and 60 | ||||||||
| Targets: | We aim to present competent women who often work in the shadow of a "successful" man. We aim to motivate unemployed women not to give up. | ||||||||
| Details of the work done by
the initiative: The project's aim is to
present a successful woman from Leipzig, once a month, in a discussion chaired by another
woman, in which the audience is given the opportunity of asking questions. Our main goal
is to present women who have done something for Leipzig in the past, or who are still
pursuing a successful career (entrepreneuses, politicians, scientists, artists, and other
women who have simply succeeded in establishing themselves in positions of respect in this
city). |

| Success that the initiative
has achieved: The enormous interest shown by women of all ages in this 1997 series of events is a testimony to its success. Despite their taking place on a Saturday afternoon, the events were always attended by a large number of visitors. Another success chalked up by the project is the publication of a documentation of "Women from our Midst". |

initiative has been faced during its work: The annual renewal of application for financial aid is extremely time-consuming. |

group concerning the conception, planning and implementation of the initiative's work: The participants in this series of events frequently make suggestions as to which women they would like to see presented. |
