Content and framework conditions of the project work
The initiative was founded in: 1995
The initiative was founded because of the following reasons:

A lobby for older women with heavy family commitments scarcely existed. Thus the need to create a self-help group.

Target group(s): Nursing relations
Targets: We are a self-help initiative consisting of women who look after family relatives. We aim to ensure a regular exchange of information among members of the initiative, to conduct lobbying, and also to provide emotional relief, as well as practical short-term relief, for nursing relatives.
Details of the work done by the initiative:

We organise practical everyday help for nursing relations, conduct information events, offer relaxing leisure-time activities, organise discussion groups, etc. The self-help group meets once or twice a month.

Areas of work of the initiative:
Care
Social contacts
Health
Mobility
Success that the initiative has achieved:
Problems that the initiative has been faced during its work:

As a lobby for "nursing relations" on a regional and local level, we are always struggling for financial support. Publicity work is difficult.

Participation of the target group concerning the conception, planning and implementation of the initiative's work:

The target group, the nursing relatives, do all the organising themselves: they prepare and run the meetings, events, etc. themselves.

Co-operation:

Since 1995 we have been co-operating with the Selbsthilfe- und Informationsstelle Berlin (SEKIS - Berlin Self-help and Information Centre).

Information:

We are available for people interested in receiving more information on our initiative by phone, post or e-mail.
