| Content and framework conditions of the project work |
| The initiative was founded
in: 2000 |
| The initiative was founded
because of the following reasons: The idea
for the work group originated from the director, and after receiving the go-ahead from the
committee and staff members, the group was initiated in May of 2000. |
| The initiative was founded
for a limited period of time: The work group
is initially limited to two years, as are all work groups run by the Frauenwerk (Women's
Association). |
| Target group(s): |
Women in Evangelical/Christian parishes |
| Targets: |
In our work we take stock of our regional church's
social work on behalf of elderly women, plan further education courses, publicise and
enhance the status of this social work, and provide stimulus for new ideas. |
| Details of the work done by
the initiative: The study group helps to
- co-ordinate social work with women senior citizens in the regional churches of
Mecklenburg and Pomerania,
- offer further education courses in the creative arts and group education,
- provide opportunities for women over 55 to plan their own lives,
- foster co-operation between full-time and volunteer workers.
More recognition and support should be given to volunteer work, and
a lobby should be created for social work with women senior citizens, both in the church
and among the public at large.
Meetings of the study group take place two or three times a year. |
| Areas of work of the
initiative: |
 |
Social contacts |
 |

 |
Religious orientation, personal
orientation, and developing one's own life-style |
|
| Success that the initiative
has achieved: After the first meeting,
networks began to form. Other successes include the encouragement received by those
engaged in this work, an increased information flow, and an upgrading of social work with
elderly women. |
| Problems that the
initiative has been faced during its work: One
problem is large travelling expenses and the large size of the group targeted by our study
group: social workers engaged in working with senior citizens, and the senior citizens
themselves. |
| Participation of the target
group concerning the conception, planning and implementation of the initiative's work: Older retired women also participate in the initiative. |
| Co-operation: |
