Content and framework conditions of the project work
The initiative was founded in: 2000
The initiative was founded because of the following reasons:

The idea of creating work groups on specific problems faced by women aged 50 and older arose from a consideration of our association's goals and from a discussion on the development of woman's place in the city, which we organised in September 1999. Both of these prompted us to question our decision to treat all age groups the same in carrying out our projects. In June 2000 we then conducted a round table discussion on "Older/Old People - Family Relationships - Violence". At the present time we are organising the work groups, whose work is scheduled to start in September 2000.

The initiative was founded for a limited period of time:

The work groups will have the task of sensitising our partner institutions to the specific problems of older women and of preparing a one-day forum devoted to women aged 50 and older, which is scheduled for March 2001.

Target group(s): Women 50 or older; family.
Targets: - Raising the consciousness of our partners and of professionals in this field;
- Working out solutions to the problems of older/old women by asserting their rights;
- Combatting mistreatment and violence;
- Integrating older/old women.
Details of the work done by the initiative:

As of September 2000, the following thematic work groups were active:
- cross-generational relationships;
- domestic care for older/old women (daughters, mothers, grandmothers);
- Violence and mistreatment in daily life, at home and in residences for the elderly.

Areas of work of the initiative:
Securing legal rights - violence/ maltreatment - nursing relatives - homes
Success that the initiative has achieved:

An at times lively interest in the abovementioned debates; inquiries from our partners in the judiciary and from professional associations.

Problems that the initiative has been faced during its work:

It is still too early to say.

Participation of the target group concerning the conception, planning and implementation of the initiative's work:

This is a priori not our aim.

Co-operation:

Co-operations arise out of the structure of individual groups; we are still looking for participants among our partners.
