| Abstract: Starting out from an analysis of shortfalls in economic provisions for women
in old age, this book discusses alternative pension models for Austria. Using selected
typical, and also critical, model biographies of women, it analyses a range of
alternatives including compulsory insurance, basic pensions, and splitting (a special form
of taxing married couples - translator's note), in terms of their contribution to
preventing poverty and ensuring the living standards and economic independence of women in
old age. |
