| Abstract: This essay makes a case for viewing old age with specific reference to gender and biography. In view of the various situations and lift-styles in which women find themselves, the author reflects on obvious trends towards pluralisation and individualisation. It becomes clear that in the transitional period from middle and old age women are again subject to individualisation tendencies and pressures that are not reflected in social structures and options. |
