| Abstract: On 14 January and on 25 November 1993 two conferences took place entitled
"Männer machen Altenpolitik - Frauen leben länger" (Men determine policy on
the elderly. Women live longer), both documented here. The documentation on the 14 January
conference contains essays with the following titles:
"Kritische Analyse der bestehenden Ansätze der Altenpolitik und Entwicklung von
Perspektiven im Interesse der Frauen" (Critical analyses of current approaches to
policy on the elderly and developing perspectives that take into account women's
interests),
"Altenpolitik in der ehemaligen DDR und die besondere Problematik des Übergangs in
die Strukturen der alten Bundesländer" (Policy on the elderly in the former GDR and
the special problems of transitioning to the structures of the former West German states),
"Neue Modell der Altenpolitik im Interesse von Frauen in den skandinavischen
Ländern" (New models for a policy on the elderly that takes into account women's
interests in the Scandinavian countries). In addition, the results of the workshop on
"Entwicklung von Perspektiven und Bedingungen für die Umsetzung einer
emanzipatorischen Altenpolitik" (the development of perspectives and conditions for
initiating an emancipatory policy on the elderly) are documented. The documentation of the
25 November conference includes a report on "Männer machen Altenpolitik - Frauen
leben länger" (Men determine policy on the elderly. Women live longer) and the
results of the workshops on
"Platz für alte Frauen. Stadtentwicklung im Sinne älterer Frauen und Möglichkeiten
zur Einflußnahme" (Room for old women. Urban development with older women in mind
and opportunities for exerting influence).
