| Target group: People who have brought up or are bringing up children, i.e. for the most part women. |
| Target: To increase the pensions of women who have raised children by upgrading child-rearing years in calculating pensions. |
| Detailed description: Since 1 July 2000, 100% of average wages is credited for child-rearing years in calculating pensions, instead of the previous 90%. This has resulted in a raise in monthly pension from 43.44 DM (22.21 Euro) to 48.58 DM (24.84 Euro) per child raised in the former West German states, and from 37.79 DM (19.32 Euro) to 42.26 DM (21.61 Euro) per child raised in the former East German states. Some 7.7 million women pensioners who have raised children are affected by this new regulation. |
